My daughter loves this book. The illustrations are cute and detailed. My only problem with the story is at one point it says only boys get boy monsters and girls get girl monsters. That upset my daughter a bit as she said she wanted a boy monster. (We just told her the main character was wrong about that). Other than that, it's a very sweet story.
Absolutely LOVE this book! Found it on Epic and my granddaughter loved it so much I surprised her with the hard copy. Her face the day it showed up was priceless! She is obsessed with it and giggles through it every single time. I’ve lost count of how many times she has read it to me in just the last couple weeks. Its a cute, clever and creative twist on monsters under the bed and super fun reading - being able to be/read the voices of the different personalities of each monster. We love both books and can’t wait for the 3rd to be released in July! Awesome illustrations too that enhance the storyline.
This is one of my favorite books! Not sure if I would have loved it as much had I not run across a YouTube video of Rita Moreno reading it. Look it up! She is amazing and brings this book to life! My 5 year old is obsessed with it and wants to watch it (and read it separately) EVERY NIGHT!!
I love the illustrator - we have several books of his and they have all been favorites for ALL of my kids, but I Need My Monster is easily #1 on our list of most-read bedtime stories. An adorably illustrated story of a little boy who's monster has gone fishing. Multiple monsters come to try an fill in for the missing monster-under-the-bed, but none are scary enough for this little boy. He just can't sleep without HIS monster! Adorable book, and even helped cure my youngest of their fear of "scary things in the dark".
We LOVE I need my monster! Our girls love a good monster book especially one that causes you to incorporate multiple monster voices when reading! This book is awesome, the pictures are awesome, the storyline is awesome. Honestly.. I love this book just as much as the kids.. If not more!
I bought this book after seeing it read on storylineonline.net. My 2.5 year old loves it! Clever story and very nice art work. I highly recommend!
The funniest book I've read to my kids in years! I was laughing out loud on page turns and we all giggled our way through the storyline. We love so many books but the I Need My Monster experience was truly sublimeâ€¼ï¸ Thank you to the author Amanda Noll but equally if not more to illustrator for your amazing creationâ£ï¸â£ï¸â£ï¸
The story is charming and the artwork is fantastic. You will need a voice for the little boy and 5 monster voices but save the best monster voice for Gabe who appears last.Maybe it was just me but I did not see any way to enlarge the very tiny font size for reading on the Kindle Fire. I also tried it using the Cloud Reader. The initial instructions said to double tap but that did not work for me. That is the only reason why I did not give it 5 stars.
The art is lovely. The story, unfortunately, features regressive, misogynistic (albeit apologetic) gender stereotyping. It's the 21st century; we shouldn't be reading this garbage to our kids.
