I have to say that this is a true classic. It gives a very nice treatment of what is NP-completeness in a fashion that really defends the topic well. It gives nice illustrations to show different situations and how to deal with it. But after the first couple of chapters it does get a little out there with the proofs it does. It is still approachable, but it assumes that the reader is already familiar with the basics of combinatorial complexity, especially in reductions. I would only recommend this book to readers who has gone through such books as Introduction to Algorithms by Cormen et al. or Combinatorial Complexity by Papadimitriou and Steiglitz. Those two books are more for beginners and this book should be one to help anyone interested in NP-complete problems to get more practice and depth understanding. Overall a great book for anyone interested in the topic. The grand challenge is to reduce everything to at least something within the 150 problems listed on your own.

I bought this text at the suggestion of my professor. This is a challenging book but very well written and a great resource for understanding the theory with plenty of examples.

Not for the soft at heart, but gives a good explanation of the NP world...

This is an amazing book! It has lots of test taking strategies and practice questions. The book goes deep into each subject. I don’t have anything negative to say about it.

It seems to be a good book. I’ve not taken the test so I only rated 4 stars. Once I’ve taken the test I will return here to further comment.

This was a terrible book! You have to be a professor to read or understand it anddd it might give you the answers but not lessons in learning how to solve the problems.

The study guide has been on point so far, I just have a lot of trouble with the math portion.

My son is enjoying this book. Busy studying to complete his GED.! Inexpensive also.

I bought this in the hope that I’d have access to more articles to help prepare students for the essay. While the book may say 2018, this is not up-to-date for HiSET essay prompts.

The answers go more into detail then the ged book amazing book and the price was right

Need to know how to do a power calculation for a reasonably common statistical analysis and don't know what software can do it? Get this book!The author begins by briefly talking about sampling strategies and effect sizes and other important issues in determining how many subjects you need for a study. Then he provides the general information on power and goes briefly into issues for power in various common statistical methods including: differences in means and proportions, odds ratios, chi-square tests, ANOVA-ANCOVA-MANOVA (with or without repeated measures), correlation, ordinary least squares regression, logistic regression, Cox regression and many more esoteric techniques (but be warned that Bayesian methods for sample size in clinical trials are not covered). This material is presented with very little algebra so if you want to study the math look elsewhere.Instead of the math, the author provides *excellent* references to how to do the analyses including free tools on the web, free tools provided by independents and the major software companies, shareware, as well as the expensive heavy hitter packages (SPSS, SAS, S-Plus, nQuery, etc.).There are worked examples with screen shots of the software, great notes and a awesome references. This books is superb for people who need something more than the back of an envelop guess and lays out the tools that a practicing statistician will frequently need.

Nice beginner text. Worked examples are especially helpful. The extensive use of free software allows sample size learning with minimal investment.

The books is very badly written and incoherent. It refers to equation numbers but the equations are not numbered. It seems that some parts of the sections are incomplete. Keeps referring to other books instead of briefly explaining the the subject. Overall I did not find the book a useful guide for determining sample size, as it claims to be.

Wow.I don't know if I can truly capture how amazing this book was in this review, but I will do my best! To start, I listened to Six of Crows via Audible and loved it. I'd never listened to/read a book with so much action; with so many POVs that held their own; with characters that I loved! I honestly can't think of one character that I disliked.This is new for me.Where Six of Crows was intrigue and romance, Crooked Kingdom is knock-down, drag out fights and retribution. We have the same crew (Kaz, Inej, Nina, Wylan, Jesper, and Matthias), but with a different mission and the same pacing!This book is breath-taking, pulse-pounding, and gut wrenching. The ending had me in pieces; on the brink of tears. This book holds nothing back; we lose character(s) we love and find hope in their futures. We see them battling everything they've done their best to overcome; we see them fail; we see them rise above to become more.We see them give into revenge; take the high road; make smart decisions; and make even a few bad decisions. The rag tag team they were before pales in comparison with the family they've become in this book. I'm fighting tears typing this. This book was simply perfect. I wouldn't change anything about it.I just, can't express how amazing this book was. I 100% recommend it.

Once I read the Grisha Triology I was able to enjoy this book like I should have been. No idea why, I do know others needed to do the same but at the end of the day I wish I had a heads up on that.With that being said, I loved this book! I loved everything about the characters and the world and how in this series it was focused on a different part then the trilogy. Now I won’t say it is my favorite book in the world, but it is one of those that is worth reading, and probably rereading a couple more times. My favorite characters are going to be Inej and Kaz, and their chemistry with each other and those around them. This isn’t a story about some girl pinning over a guy or some tragic love story, or really a love story at all. Yes it has aspects of one in there but not over the top, its actually very subtle. It has more action and more mystery and more keep you on your toes aspects. Which makes me adore this book. I hope that she keeps this up in the second one and that we get a good final ending in Crooked Kingdom. The word play was spectacular and the story line was captivating. You honestly should pick this series up and read it! This is by far my favorite book out of Six of Crows and the Grisha Trilogy.So firstly, can I just say Kaz Brekker “Dirtyhands” is a serious genius? The way that he manipulated everyone and you just never knew or expected what was going to happen next. Piece by piece, a puzzle was laid out and things that happened earlier in the book, you need to remember for later in the book, and it is like an explosion in your brain going “Oh now that makes sense!” Any questions I might have had, they were all answered. She did not leave me wanting, except that I want to know more about Kaz and Inej after the fact, like what adventures they have, what their life is like and so on. This book is a serious roller coaster of emotions. But maybe not just a roller coaster. Maybe an entire amusement park would be a more apt description.She did an amazing job with the different POVs and it wasn’t just 2 or 3 but 6 or 7. And the flow that she kept them in was just beyond words. She juggled them flawlessly and built on the already complex nature of them and just added more layers without missing a beat. There was so many emotions, so many feels that this emotional roller-coaster/amusement park/carnival has left me just like “Wow.” No matter what happens things just crescendo, between the relationships, the dark nature of some of their backgrounds, love found and ultimately lost, and dark, and almost a sexy erotic without making outright sex scenes, but keeping it entertaining with the many many personalities. The violence and the gritty nature just made this book so dark and compelling and a read like I have not had before other than A Court of Mist and Fury but with a completely different tone. It is soul crushing and mind blowing. I just cant get over it yet.I absolutely love all the action and the mischievous nature of our beloved little gang whom was fully developed and when one of them was outraged and crying it pulled on those heart strings and made you want to cry also. (Actually a friend of mine did cry) but I have to say out of my favorite characters Inej is the top of the list along with Nina, Matthias, and of course Kaz. I absolutely loved the dialogue, with all the bantering and the rapport between the characters.But at the end of the day, if you want to know if you should pick up this book. Then the answer is Yes. Dont wait, don’t keep looking through reviews you have to experience this masterpiece of amusement park/roller coaster ride for yourself. It might have finished in the perfect spot, in just the perfect way but Leigh Bardugo… I hope you read this cause How Dare You. You are evil. A brilliantly minded evil genius and I absolutely can’t wait to read yet another series/standalone book written by you.“No Mourners. No Funnerals.”

I would like to start off by saying these are two FANTASTIC books by Leigh Bardugo. Five stars for the books themselves. I am giving a three star rating only because I ordered the box set and it came slightly damaged. I understand these things happen but when it comes with a big rip down the side of the box I cannot forgive that when I shelled out some good money to have the boxed edition.

Well it sat on my book shelf but I never got around to it. As a reading challenge December's read was a book 400 pages or more so in I went. Needless to say I wish I hadn't waited a whole year to read it!!The cast and crew of this book is phenomenal!!! That's the only way to describe them. I thought this would be hard to get through because of the length but boy was I wrong. I devoured it and still want more. Thankfully I have book 2.Out of this world!!! Can't wait to read more by this author.

One of my favorite duologies. This read is for the action loving fantasy reader. The plot is absolutely amazing and something I have never read about before thus making it a unique reading experience for me. The book follows a cast of morally gray characters as they try to preform a heist. Then the second book you are reading about what is going on next in the characters lives due to their actions in the first book. I won't give any details away because spoilers! But this is a must read for sure. The writing is beautiful and gripping you will be on the edge of your seat dying to know what will happen next throughout the whole story!Sidenote: This boxed set is the best deal for purchasing the books!

Clearly, the author knows about sketching. The language, grammar, and tone were just not that great. My guess is that the author is not a native English speaker. There are typos. There are times when the author uses phrases like if we process all information we will be a "vegetable," "why the hell?," telling the viewer, "I know you are absolutely dumb."The author has enthusiasm for his subject matter and probably has a great personality. He probably should have used an editor to clean up the language, grammar, and tone.O

I'm still reading this book. I have been struggling with the subject of perspective for a long time. As a result, I have purchased many books on the subject. I like this one because it's different and I like the author's method of teaching. Try a sample. You might agree with me!

Author has simplified how to compose a picture and few rules which you can and should break to make it more interesting. Just as the authors first book, in this book also he has explained in very detail on how to compose and sketch, very easy read for a beginner and if anyone is delaying to take action on sketching, this book actually will force or encourage to get into the mode of sketching. The author has kept the tone informal and playful. This ensures that even though the topic is slightly technical, the book never gets hard to read and is a fun learning.

The book is very technical and goes into super detail about how perspective affects your art, based on the title I was looking for more help with actual sketches, but his attention to and explanation of the reasons why composition and perspective matter, was great.

The basic knowledge was enough to capture my interest in sketching again. I stopped in middle school and feel inspired. Also became aware of similarities between the visual concepts of "composition" and "perception" and audio music production.

It is not the fantastic book I thought it would be. Poor quality of impression, paper and some mispelling words.

There are fancier, more technical art books out there but I enjoyed this one. Sometimes a down to earth approach can be just as valuable. And even though I am not new to art or drawing I did learn something. I've read about perspective before and as a self taught artist (like the author) some of it just felt overwhelming to be perfect. The artist reminded me that perspective is about possibilities. So freeing and completely relateable. My goal is not perfection but inspiration. Thank you to the artist.
